Spidvid provides a social collaboration utility for people to connect together and form their own on-demand production teams.

People who understand the power of creating a “production value chain” will see very positive results as we enter a new media evolution. The production value chain consists of a couple or a collection of individuals each adding their unique value towards a collaborative video project.

The idea is that generally content becomes more valuable, useful, and of higher quality through tapping into the wisdom of the crowds theory.

A prime example: An experienced writer actively working in the TV industry has some spare time on her hands and is looking to pursue a personal project outside of her day to day work. She writes a remarkable script for a 5 minute video and wants to have it produced but doesn't want to pay out personal money to do so. So she becomes best friends with Google for a few days, and through extensive research she concludes that a collaboration model to attract outside talent is the solution she needs.

She documents her needs and seeks to assemble a production team consisting of a producer, digital cinematographer, editor, animation artist, a couple of actors, and would like to obtain the rights for background music from a hip indie band. She then puts together a solid plan outlining all of the details for the project, collaborative execution strategy, and posts the project for professionals to bid on.

While she waits for bids to come in, she also actively reviews potential alliances and invites top professionals she feels she could work well with to achieve a common goal. Within a few hours she's actively engaged in many conversations and within days finalizes her decisions and puts together a passionate team where everyone is on the same page. Her producer, cinematographer, and actors reside in her local area so they get together for a few hours to do a shoot, and grab a couple drinks after to form a tighter relationship. The cinematographer takes the raw video content, and uploads it for the editor to download where it's refined. The editor then uploads the updated content for the animation artist to add a couple cool animated effects. The animation artist then uploads the now almost complete video so the editor can tie in some complementing background music uploaded by the music artist.

The video goes through a final cut process where everyone in the team gives their feedback and approval to arrive at the polished video. When the polished video is complete, it's then uploaded to Spidvid's partner video sharing site UnleashVideo.com for immediate release. Once it goes live on the web it's time to celebrate with team members, measure the market reaction, the success it earns, and share in the profits it generates. Everyone in this chain had a specific role in the creation process by adding their unique value to benefit the team and their impact on resulting content.
