Spidvid Projects You May Want To Collaborate On

There have been a few interesting projects launched on Spidvid recently, and a few completed as well to showcase some impressive video entertainment from our community. Our community’s videos now have received over 400,000 views, and now the journey is on to reach a large milestone of 1,000,000 views!

If you have a video project that you have active in development, or one you want to launch, then get a Spidvid profile and post your project for our 1,200+ community members to check out and bid on.

Escape is a web series which is about to head into its 3rd full season! Cheers to its success to date! Creator Mike Feurstein is looking for a VFX artist to do some electrifying animation effects, Music Artists are needed for songs for the episodes, a Graphics Designer is requested, and a person who can Promote the show to find a larger audience is integral too. Check out the eScape Season 3 trailer below, and if you want to collaborate with Mike to make Season 3 a big hit then bid on his project or message him on Spidvid to start a conversation.

We are producing the web series “Gen Y” in collaboration with Illinois-based filmmaker Sasan of Gladius Arts. He needs to build out his core team with 2 Actors, and 2 Promoters to help spread the word about the web show. If you are based in Illinois and can act, or live on this planet and can promote this video to lots of potential viewers/bloggers then please bid on Sasan’s project.

Philly-based James Jackson has a new film project called “Frogg Prince” and needs some talent from our community to move his project forward in a positive direction. James needs individuals from Philly to collaborate with, and he’s seeking out a Videographer with a DSLR camera who can add another camera angle to work with, he’s needs a Set Designer to create settings inside his studio, and he could use a talented Video Editor who can cut the story together with some added effects. 6 Ways To Win On Spidvid

winning charlie sheenHow does a video creator or filmmaker get maximum value out of Spidvid’s community and platform? A great question that we’ve been getting a lot lately, and a question that certainly deserves a public answer to. So without further ado…

6 ways to win on Spidvid:

1. Create your Spidvid profile. Before anything can happen you need to get an account, and spend a few minutes on it to make sure it’s complete and interesting for our community to visit. If it doesn’t kick a** and inspire other filmmakers to connect with you, then you need to improve it ASAP! Here’s a good one to check out.

2. Post a project. Now that you have your remarkable profile created you can post a collaborative video project. The project should tell its unique story, communicate to our community who you’re looking for, where the project is in development, and the other important details that everyone needs to know about.

3. Bid on a project. If you aren’t a filmmaker, but are an actor, screenwriter, editor, or another type of talent then you can bid on Spidvid projects. Be sure to pay attention to where the core team is creating the video. For example, if you’re an actor that’s based in Miami but the shoot is in LA, then you will need to travel for the live shoot to be part of the project. But if you’re an editor based in London then you can perhaps be part of the post-production team.

4. Connect with our community. Our Spidvid community is full of award winning filmmakers, actors, writers, and directors so there is lots of remarkable individuals out there to connect with, learn from, and perhaps collaborate with on future projects. Get some conversations started today!

5. Connect with us. Follow us on Twitter, fan us up on Facebook, subscribe to our blog, or email us (community@spidvid.com) to get the most out of your Spidvid experience. We will point you in the right direction, try to hook you up with project funding or donate to your Kickstarter campaign, connect you with talent you need for your project’s success, or whatever else you may need, we exist to empower our community to thrive in new media filmmaking!

6. Complete a project, ship a video. By building your team on Spidvid, collaborating on the video project, and completing it so you can upload the video for distribution is the ultimate success and win on our site. Every time a project gets posted we always do our best to help teams form which are capable of reaching viral success upon successful execution.

Video Project Graph

Have you ever heard the term “social graph” before? Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and CEO of Facebook made the term famous on May 24, 2007 at the Facebook f8 conference. The social graph has been described as “the global mapping of everybody and how they’re related.” Since then “_______ graph” has been getting thrown around the web for other websites, including Quora being called the “interest graph” and Hunch being called the “taste graph.”

I thought about what kind of “_______ graph” Spidvid is becoming many months ago, and came up with “video production graph” or “video project graph.” I suppose either term could mean “the global mapping of everyone’s videos, and the connections between the individuals for the original production projects.” I actually bought VideoProductionGraph.com and VideoProjectGraph.com because Jason Calacanis has me obsessed with buying new domains.

Facebook helped us get our connections online which ultimately led to the social graph, and my vision for Spidvid is to get every video creator’s projects online to become the video project graph or video production graph.

This is just something that came to me and I merely decided to throw it out there to see if it sticks. I don’t believe every huge Web company needs to become a “_______ graph” to be the dominant player in any given space, I think the terms are for reference and association more than anything else.

How to Bid on a Video Production Project on Spidvid

Last week I wrote a post on how to post a video production project on Spidvid. Today looks at how to bid on a video production project if you are an actor, director, writer, videographer, editor, music artist, animation artist, story teller, or a marketer/promoter of video content.

It all starts by visiting our projects page to find interesting projects that match your specific talent. Our platform is still very new, and people are just now learning how to use and leverage it, so there are no projects to bid on just yet but that will all change very soon. It all starts with one project so other video creators can see how things work and move on to post their own. If you want to feature the very first project on Spidvid, be sure to get a creator’s account and get one posted. Our admin team will review and approve it shortly after. Within a couple of weeks any creator will be able to post their video production project right away without approval as we are opening up our platform to new projects, and uploaded videos.

Here is how a professional easily bids on a production project on our site

Bid Description: Outline why you would be an ideal fit for the project, and why your talent makes you an ideal candidate. Also be sure to share links or information of previous experience, because that can go a long way towards getting accepted for your role on the team.

Skills/Value I Can Offer: In this section you should list specific skills you have for the project. For example if a creator needs a videographer you can tell him or her all about the videos you have shot in the past, the quality camera you have at your disposal, and even send links so the creator can view your previous videos online.

Talent I’m Offering: Here is where you choose from a drop down list what talent you are offering for the project. So if you an actor and an editor but want to bid on the project just as an actor then be sure to select actor from the drop down list.

Estimated Completion Time: If you work fast on video projects be sure to indicate that here, if you work a bit slow then also be sure to tell the truth and communicate that to the video creator. If you are an individual which plans to be involved on the video shoot (and not in post production) then you can select the earliest completion time option which is “1 day” from the drop down list.

Relevant Files Towards My Bid: If you have any files on your computer that relate to your project bid you can share them with the video creator here. These files can be downloaded by the creator from the bids submitted page in their account.

You can also preview the project bid before you submit it to ensure that it includes all of the details you want to communicate. Expect to hear back from the creator in the hours or days ahead, good luck with being added to the creator’s team, and cheers to the successful completion of the project and video.

Creating Video Production Tribes

Companies are entities which connect individuals together so that they can work on projects together, create products, market products, generate revenue and profits, and then repeat that process over and over again until it no longer works then they either change it or vanish from existence. The most important aspect of the corporate model are the employees, everything else involved are just commodities.

The point here is that by providing a framework so that individuals can connect to each other, collaborate together, and align themselves to accomplish similar goals will produce remarkable results that we’re not yet aware of. This can now be done without corporate involvement which is very exciting for some, and very scary for others because it’s a relatively new concept.

Spidvid provides a social framework so that video creators and professionals (like actors, writers, directors, story tellers, music artists, and others) can connect together and produce whatever video content they are passionate about creating regardless of team member location restrictions. The right combination of talent, ideas, passion, execution, and connection will yield video content that would have never existed without having brought individuals together in an open environment to achieve these results. That’s what motivates us to push Spidvid forward because we know what’s possible as members of the world get more connected, collaborative, intelligent, and come to understand what’s possible in this new media space in the years ahead.

Spidvid’s platform has been immensely influenced by the Tribes book, with the firm belief that connecting people together so that they can form their own creation entities is the wave of the future.

The video below is a presentation by Seth Godin at the TED conference in February of this year (2009) where he argues that leading and connecting is the key going forward so that we as a human race can further evolve, and challenge the status quo across all industries and marketplaces.

Seth Godin argues the Internet has ended mass marketing and revived a human social unit from the distant past: tribes. Founded on shared ideas and values, tribes give ordinary people the power to lead and make big changes. He urges us to do so.
