Hack Attack Part Two

July 10th, 2010

Spidvid.com almost went a full year without getting hacked, until yesterday happened. Last year in mid August our servers were hacked and it took about a week to fully restore everything back to normal. The site isn’t down this time and it works just fine actually, but there are traces of malware. So we don’t believe it poses a risk for users to use today and over the weekend, but had to make everyone aware of the situation. If you do use Spidvid this weekend be sure that your virus protection software is open in case your computer somehow gets infected.

Spidvid should be 100% fine again on Monday. We are again increasing the security measures on our servers to ensure our platform is better protected as popularity and use of it increases on a daily basis.

On a positive note, we expect to release a Spidvid Android app next month, so if you own an Android powered mobile phone we hope you download and enjoy the app upon launch. To be notified of the app launch, Spidvid community news, production tips, visionary outlooks for collaborative video production, and other interesting information, subscribe to our blog via RSS or have posts delivered to your inbox.

Hack Attack

August 14th, 2009

Our developers have been in restore mode for this entire week as we encountered a fairly bad hacker attack last weekend.

We expect all functionality to be back to normal by early next week, and will resume our marketing and promotional activities at that time.

For all of the people who signed up for an invite to our private beta, we are sad to announce that we lost all of the email addresses in the database. So you will you need to visit our site, click “Sign Up”, and provide your email once again. We’re very sorry that this happened, and are making the necessary adjustments to reduce the risks for future attacks.

We are very much looking forward to all of the good times that lie ahead for Spidvid, and for the early community which joins our social movement.
