Gen Y is a new web series that is about the struggles of life members of the Gen Y population face after accomplishing huge tasks at an early age by introducing you to the lives of a blogger, a social media creator, a party planner, a currency trader, and an unfocused college student. The show embodies the elements of the filmmaking style made popular by the Gen Y population called mumblecore. The production team behind Gen Y is Gladius Arts and it is supported by Spidvid. Each episode is premiered at UnleashVideo.com.
The series takes place in a college town called Marscity. Mark, the blogger, resides in Marscity trying to salvage his relationship with his ex-gf Katie after graduating from Marscity University. Misti, the social media creator, dropped out of Marscity University after her freshman year, transferred to an Ivy League school only to drop out of that as well to pursue her project the SpaceBook which resulted her in becoming the youngest Billionaire ever. Katie, the party planner, is also a Marscity University dropout but manages a successful party planning business as she struggles with what to do about Mark. Shane, the currency trader, visits Marscity from St. Louis to rekindle the good days of being an undergrad with Mark. Ash, the unfocused college student, attends Marscity University but isn’t worried that he won’t be able to be successful or enjoy life after college.

There were 27 awards handed out yesterday for the category of “Online Film & Video”. The top award of “Film & Video Artist of the Year” was from viral music band OK GO. In case you have been living under a rock and haven’t seen their video “This Too Shall Pass” it’s been embedded below for your viewing pleasure. This is creativity at its best, and that’s what it takes to cut through the millions of videos alive on the Web today, to reach millions of viewers in a short period of time.
