6 Ways To Win On Spidvid

winning charlie sheenHow does a video creator or filmmaker get maximum value out of Spidvid’s community and platform? A great question that we’ve been getting a lot lately, and a question that certainly deserves a public answer to. So without further ado…

6 ways to win on Spidvid:

1. Create your Spidvid profile. Before anything can happen you need to get an account, and spend a few minutes on it to make sure it’s complete and interesting for our community to visit. If it doesn’t kick a** and inspire other filmmakers to connect with you, then you need to improve it ASAP! Here’s a good one to check out.

2. Post a project. Now that you have your remarkable profile created you can post a collaborative video project. The project should tell its unique story, communicate to our community who you’re looking for, where the project is in development, and the other important details that everyone needs to know about.

3. Bid on a project. If you aren’t a filmmaker, but are an actor, screenwriter, editor, or another type of talent then you can bid on Spidvid projects. Be sure to pay attention to where the core team is creating the video. For example, if you’re an actor that’s based in Miami but the shoot is in LA, then you will need to travel for the live shoot to be part of the project. But if you’re an editor based in London then you can perhaps be part of the post-production team.

4. Connect with our community. Our Spidvid community is full of award winning filmmakers, actors, writers, and directors so there is lots of remarkable individuals out there to connect with, learn from, and perhaps collaborate with on future projects. Get some conversations started today!

5. Connect with us. Follow us on Twitter, fan us up on Facebook, subscribe to our blog, or email us (community@spidvid.com) to get the most out of your Spidvid experience. We will point you in the right direction, try to hook you up with project funding or donate to your Kickstarter campaign, connect you with talent you need for your project’s success, or whatever else you may need, we exist to empower our community to thrive in new media filmmaking!

6. Complete a project, ship a video. By building your team on Spidvid, collaborating on the video project, and completing it so you can upload the video for distribution is the ultimate success and win on our site. Every time a project gets posted we always do our best to help teams form which are capable of reaching viral success upon successful execution.

Web of Intrigue Podcast

I had the opportunity of joining Marc and Brett last week as a guest on their podcast “Web of Intrigue” and had a blast. We talked about Spidvid, open video production, new media, branded entertainment vs ads, and the online video space.

What’s Your Video Production Reputation?

No matter where you upload and distribute your video or film content to, perhaps the most important reason why you are motivated to take that action is to build your up your profile, and to say to the world “I’m here and look at the talent I have”.

Video sharing sites can be great for the ego if you see lots of viewers consuming your content, but nobody knows the story behind how that video came to be through the lenses of each team member involved with the project.

Each production project is an opportunity to build your reputation as well as helping your team members build up their own as well. The reason why eBay works so well is because it’s a community built on trust, and whoever can’t earn the trust of the community will ultimately fail. Mostly on the seller side, but I’ve heard stories of these individuals getting a new eBay account giving them a second chance to gain the trust needed to become successful.

With each product and in Spidvid’s case each production project, a reputation is either enhanced or it gets hurt. It’s up to each individual to either commit and earn positive feedback, or not commit and earn negative feedback.

The Internet was long an anonymous medium in which nobody had a real name, or even a picture for others to connect to. That’s how many of us wanted it because fear was driven into us that we could be abducted, rapped, or even killed by the creepy strangers and predators lurking out there online.

There still are many bad people out there looking to hurt innocent and naive people, but for the most part many of us are looking to build social profiles which establish our credibility and to let others know that we are good, and don’t want to remain anonymous anymore.

You might be saying to yourself right now that you have references who would back you, which I have no doubt that they would do, but imagine having everyone you have worked with in the past endorsing you for each and every project you were part of. Now that’s a digital trail of reputation which is pretty valuable, and an on-demand solution for showing anyone who wants to you know about you, exactly what type of individual you are. Having your team members tell stories about who you are as a person, and reasons why others should want to work with you also is like reputation gold for your personal brand.

Our goal is to connect the right combination of individuals to undertake projects that translate into remarkable video and film entertainment, but we also want to provide a platform where a profile can be shared and leveraged on important things like resumes and media kits.
