April 12th, 2011

There have been a few interesting projects launched on Spidvid recently, and a few completed as well to showcase some impressive video entertainment from our community. Our community’s videos now have received over 400,000 views, and now the journey is on to reach a large milestone of 1,000,000 views!

There are 3 brand new Spidvid projects that you may want to take a look at right now:

Escape is a web series which is about to head into its 3rd full season! Cheers to its success to date! Creator Mike Feurstein is looking for a VFX artist to do some electrifying animation effects, Music Artists are needed for songs for the episodes, a Graphics Designer is requested, and a person who can Promote the show to find a larger audience is integral too. Check out the eScape Season 3 trailer below, and if you want to collaborate with Mike to make Season 3 a big hit then bid on his project or message him on Spidvid to start a conversation.

We are producing the web series “Gen Y” in collaboration with Illinois-based filmmaker Sasan of Gladius Arts. He needs to build out his core team with 2 Actors, and 2 Promoters to help spread the word about the web show. If you are based in Illinois and can act, or live on this planet and can promote this video to lots of potential viewers/bloggers then please bid on Sasan’s project.

Philly-based James Jackson has a new film project called “Frogg Prince” and needs some talent from our community to move his project forward in a positive direction. James needs individuals from Philly to collaborate with, and he’s seeking out a Videographer with a DSLR camera who can add another camera angle to work with, he’s needs a Set Designer to create settings inside his studio, and he could use a talented Video Editor who can cut the story together with some added effects. If you are in Philly looking for a new project to collaborate on then visit the Frogg Prince page and post your bid for James to review.

Investing Into 2 New Video and Film Projects

March 22nd, 2011

A couple weeks ago we tweeted that we were looking to seed fund and produce original video entertainment projects, in collaboration with our talented community. We have had many conversations to date with a few filmmakers, and have given the green light to two collaborative projects so far.

The first one is a 5 episode (minimum) web series named “Gen Y” by filmmaker and film festival organizer Sasan Shabrou. And the other one is a short film by the creator of the 3 million+ viewed web series “SpellfuryTravis Gordon. Both are young, up and comers in the filmmaking industry, and both made great project pitches to us.

We are proud to be collaborating with these two passionate film guys and their teams on these exciting new projects. Look for their Spidvid projects in the coming weeks ahead, as Sasan and Travis will be looking for talent from our community to collaborate with to successfully complete their projects. If you don’t have one yet, get a Spidvid profile so you’re ready for these projects and others from our community.

If you have a proposal for a web series or short film, please contact us to see if a partnership opportunity makes sense. Look forward to hearing from you to learn more about your creative ideas and scripts that are begging to become successful realities.

Multiple Video Projects At a Time

February 4th, 2011

multiple hats

Are you a passionate man or woman on a mission when creating new videos? Perhaps you try to do everything by yourself, work on just one project at a time, and ultimately end up with sub-par results over a long period of time.

We all want to be multi-talented at what we do, but wearing many different hats on a project can be exhausting and you can spread your skills too thin. For every successful film project, there is a talented team behind it, period.

So you have a couple choices: a) work on one project at a time and try to do everything yourself, or b) reach out to outside talent, connect and collaborate with the individuals you need to add skill to your project, and free up more of your time to do multiple projects at a time.

For example: Jessie is an aspiring filmmaker who loves writing and shooting creative new videos, but hates editing them, dislikes using his voice for the voice over, and tries to score each of his videos but they always end up sounding rather boring to viewers. Jessie can keep pressing on with this process and settle for mediocre videos, or he can focus exclusively on writing and shooting videos and collaborate with other like-minded talent to fill in his skill gaps. This gives Jessie the time to do many projects simultaneously, allows him to complete more projects faster, and hedges his bet so he doesn’t invest a ton of time into projects that end up getting little or no success. He gives up some control and perhaps pieces of the content ownership, but gets many more opportunities at success with each new video him and his team release to the world.

Our Spidvid community is full of talented individuals eagerly waiting for new and exciting projects to be part of. If you have projects you want to launch but either don’t have the time or talent to accomplish that, then get a Spidvid account, and post a project. We will help you spread the word to the specific talent you need, and get your project heading in the right direction.

Dr.Nasty’s Web Series Project

January 26th, 2011

Video creator Zach Oldenburg has posted a Spidvid project about an animated web series (Dr.Nasty’s) which he wants to create, but he needs your help. Zach is totally “hell bent” about producing the next Family Guy mega-hit, and so we love how he’s aiming really high for this one!

Below are the details for the Dr.Nasty web series project. If you want to join Zach’s production team, then either contact him directly, or bid on his project right away to collaborate with him. To bid you will need a Spidvid account.

Talent needed: 7 Actors, 1 Animation Artist, 3 Directors, 1 Music Artist, 1 Story Teller/Narrator, 2 Writers
Ideas for video: A retired super villian gets back to basics by moving in with his recently divorced sister and her twin sons. The new man of the house finds himself each episode finding a way to better himself and those around him, all while keeping his super villian attitude. Think “Whose the Boss” meets Dr. Evil meets “Family Guy”.
Basic storyline: Dr. Nasty is 48-years old, out of shape, and out of work, which isn’t hard when you’re job is being a super villian. With no super heros left in town, Dr. Nasty decides to retire and move in with his newly-divorced sister and her twin boys. Regular episodes find Dr. Nasty getting back to reality by getting in shape with a new personal trainer, experiencing internet porn for the first time, and building a steel-enforced prison treehouse for the twins.
Current status : Have a great idea
Skills/Resources needed: I am a zero budget filmmaker, so I mainly need some dedicated filmmakers who don’t mind coming together in an internet show. If we can make money off this then excellent, if not, then we’ll be doing it solely to make people laugh. I need a handful of people who have always felt their voice belonged on radio or cartoons. I like to direct, but it doesn’t mean I’d direct every episode, so if you’re interested in directing, let me know. I also need a basic flash animator. This cartoon would be simple and cheaply made, then scored properly after. Episode writers also needed, once we get the wheels rolling. For the love of the game, join this project. We’ll be a working, breathing, machine hell bent on producing the next Family Guy, one building block at a time.
Experience needed: 1 Year
Bidding opens: January 23, 2011
Bidding closes: February 13, 2011
Additional information: I edit, direct, star in, and promote all the shorts for http://runhomestudios.com, so if you need any examples of the humor I write, check there. Let’s have some fun, guys!

Want To Join My Production Team?

January 25th, 2011

I posted a Spidvid project last month named “Blog Hacked” with an outline for a story about a startup entrepreneur who can’t get any coverage across the blogosphere. Frustrated, he hires a hacker to hack into a popular blog so he can post his own story through their publishing platform. Hijacking a blogger’s control panel if you will. The post goes live to millions of people, but how is this unprecedented event going to unfold and be received?!

Dennis Moore has already written a fantastic 6 page script for the project that will ultimately become a 5 minute video thriller. He has been fantastic to collaborate with over the past few weeks. He has 32 years in the screenwriting industry, and really knows how to tell an interesting story that people can relate to.

At this point I’m unsure where to film the entertaining video. It could be Toronto, Salt Lake City, Seattle, LA, NYC, or somewhere else. If you want to join my team as an actor, director, videographer, or editor then please bid on the project, or contact me.

Looking forward to wrapping up this fun project next month or in March. If you want to be part of this project opportunity then please let me know the unique value you can provide to it.

Cheers to collaborative filmmaking!
